Sarala discovered Yoga in 2000 to help manage work-related stress and found the practice to be healing. She is now an Integral Yoga Certified Instructor at the 500 hour level and is certified to teach Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Hatha. She is also certified to teach Yoga for Stress Management and teaches the faculty and staff at local high schools and in a variety of corporate environments. After completing the Yoga for Cancer and Chronic Illness training, Sarala began teaching a weekly class at the Cancer Center of Wake Forest University and has been involved with several research projects at the Medical School. She enjoys seeing the patients in the hospital setting and virtually through telemedicine and is honored to witness the healing experience. Sarala also taught Yoga to those living with Multiple Sclerosis both as part of a research project with the University and a biweekly community class and wishes she had known sooner about the healing effects so that she could have shared with her mother who lived with MS for 50 years. She enjoys the affiliation with the medical center after an almost 20 year career in academic medicine administration with Wake Forest.

Sarala enjoys teaching restorative Yoga and partners with local musicians to bring a sound healing experience to students. She has taught both in the studio and privately, as well as corporate settings and leads group retreats. She is the mother to two young men and loves to be on the back of a horse when not on a Yoga mat.
